pet peeve.

i hate it

when, in entertainment news or on music channels, hosts/interviewers/the non-artists say things to/about the famous person of the moment like,

"wow, so you write your own songs?"
"wow, so you sing live?"
"wow, so you play your own instruments?"
"wow, so your song lyrics are about personal experience?"

meanwhile there are and have been thousands of artists who do these things and have dones these things for years. it's the experience that we call "being an artist."

the music industry/community and the entertainment industry are so intertwined that all of the other talent that exists under the radar of the general public and major media is lost.

there are not only ten "artists" who deserve to walk red carpets and recieve nominations and awards. and there are people who audiences recognize as talented without back up dancers and autotuned vocal tracks.

i'm not sure why the twenty-four hour news cycle even exists anymore.

the political news on Fox, MSNBC, CNN, NBC and CBS, etc., has not been news for quite some time.

it's always the same.

democrats try to pass legislation.
republicans filibuster; republicans demand tax cuts for the richest two percent of americans; republicans say things that are not true on camera.

republicans try to pass legislation.
democrats and minorities freak out; people are confused; republicans say things that are not true on camera.

democrats whine, bluff, back down, argue, make speeches. republicans say things that are not true on camera.

...

i hate that something
in not-paragraph-form is
suddenly not prose.

if someone would invent some piece of technology that could produce silence,
i would be euphoric.

observation.

sometimes,

writer of beautifully abstract poetry and/or lyrics = difficult to read and digest prose.
writer of well written prose = simpler, visceral poetic language.

Do you think my personality is written in stone?
Are you positively certain that you know what you've been shown?
I'm a snapshot of the person that you think I ought to be.

why the fuck would you want me back?

maybe that's because
you don't know me at all.

i made it up from

i lost it all in

the paradox that i find to be my existence continually astounds me.

if i can't mess up with open eyes, i might have it all,
but it won't be mine. i thank you all for the wealth of advice,
but i'm driving alone tonight.

why was the road
made of yellow brick?
why shiny red flats,
why were they called slippers,
those can't have been rubies,
why a ridiculous dog with a ridiculous name.

i found out:

i can only be who i am.

borrow, beg, or steal: everything is real.

one day,
i might feel all right again.
don't be different for the
sake of being thus, don't
try to understand,
there is no such thing.
don't trust. whateverthefuck that means.
we're all free falling on a
rotating sphere
through nothingness.
we're pieces of dust. the stars laugh at our
claims of grandeur.

finally the news is focusing on the fact that tyler clemeti’s recent tragic death was in fact a hate crime.

they’re finally talking about the trevor project.
about the hetrick-martin institute.
about the statistics for LGBT youth.

"this would not have happened if he had been in a situation with a woman. this was far more than an invasion of privacy. this was a hate crime."

it should be treated as a hate crime; he was targeted via a social networking site because of his percieved sexual orientation. he ended his own life as a result.

there needs to be perspective.

that entire organizatons need to be dedicated to the prevention of all of the potential deaths that could result for just being born and existing honestly,

that makes me so sad.

"gender is performative. there is no prediscursive reality, there is no prior truth. the ways that we perform gender create the illusion of an interior and organizing gender core, an illusion discursively maintained for the purposes of the regulation of sexuality within the obligatory frame of reproductive heterosexuality."
